Where does the data come from?
Public government records: liquor-license filings, building and health permits, and business registrations. We add details from Google business listings and the business's own website. When a public business-registration filing names an owner or registered agent, a data provider matches that person to a phone number and email address, which can be personal. Numbers on Do-Not-Call lists are left out. We don't scrape LinkedIn, social networks or people-search websites.
Which states do you cover?
The Restaurant Database (liquor licenses) covers California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois (Chicago only), Massachusetts (Boston only), New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, Washington and the District of Columbia. Early leads (pre-opening filings, build-out permits and new food-service licenses) add Delaware, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, Nevada, North Carolina and Tennessee. The map on our home page shows what we have in each state.
How early do you find restaurants?
It depends on the filing. Build-out permits and liquor-license filings usually show up weeks to months before opening. Pre-opening inspections show up days to weeks before.
How often is the data updated?
We check for new filings every 4 hours, as soon as the agencies publish them.
Is this personal contact data?
Sometimes. When a filing names an owner or agent, we may include their phone and email, which can be personal. A data provider does the matching, and we only show a match we can tie to the business. Numbers on Do-Not-Call lists are left out. The rest of the lead is a public business record.
Can you tell me which POS a restaurant uses?
Often. POS & Tech Lookup checks a restaurant's website and online-ordering links for known POS and ordering systems. “No POS detected” means we found no sign of one online; the restaurant may still have one. You can try it free on
POS Lookup.
What if a lead looks wrong?
Email
[email protected] with the restaurant and what looks off, and we'll look into it.
